​​​​​​​​The Nelson Health Centre: your visit

This information is intended to aid patients attending the Nelson Health Centre​ for the first time

Please bring your appointment letter with you and arrive in plenty of time.

The Nelson Health Centre is located at Kingston Road, London SW20 8DA.  Phone number is 0203 668 3300.

Building en​trances

The centre has three entrances​​​​

  • Main entrance off Kingston Road

  • Entrance from the car park at the rear of the building

  • Blakesley Walk entrance at the right hand side of the building; used for access to retinal screening services, the Holistic Assessment and Investigation service (HARI) and mental health services

Opening times

The general centre opening hours are:
Monday to Friday: 8am to 8pm
Saturday: 8am to 2pm
Each service/clinic has different opening times so do please check your appointment letter, ​which will include the time of your appointment.

Travelling to The Nelson Health Centre

If you are coming by train or tram:

Wimbledon Chase train station is a five-minute walk from the centre. On exiting the station turn left and proceed along Kingston Road (the A238) towards Wimbledon. Merton Park tram link stop is a 10-minute walk from the centre. On exiting the stop turn left and proceed along Kingston Road (the A238) away from Wimbledon

If you are coming ​​​​​by bus:

The Nelson Health Centre is easily accessible by bus from Wimbledon, Sutton, Morden, Tooting and Mitcham. Buses 152, 163, 164 and K5 stop directly outside

If you are coming by car:

  • The entrance to the car park is from Kingston Road at the Blakesley Walk end of the building

  • Blue Badge parking bays are located immediately adjacent to the entrance at the rear of the building.

  • Charging points for electric cars are available in the car park.

  • Car parking charges apply. The rates are the same as those charged by Merton Council for other pay and display parking in the area

  • There is no car drop off point at the front of the building

Cycle racks are available at both the front and rear of the centre

Checking in

When you arrive please check in using the one of the check-in screens. These are located to the left of the main entrance, to the left of the car park entrance, in the GP surgery reception area on the first floor and on both floors of the Blakesley Walk entrance.

To check in you need to: indicate whether you have an appointment or have come to use a walk in service; enter your gender and birth date.

The screen will then respond with your name and appointment which you need to confirm. You will then be directed to a waiting area from where you will be called to your appointment.

If you do not wish to use one of the check in screens, any reception will be able to assist you.​

Finding your service or clinic

Main reception and general enquiries can be found on the ground floor 

The following services are also located on the ground floor: 

  • Blood tes​ting 

  • Diagnostics (x-ray, ultrasound, ECG, blood pressure and cardiac tests) 

  • Pharmacy 

  • Podiatry MSK service 

  • Outpatient physiotherapy 

  • HARI – Assessment and Investigation - please use the Blakesley Walk entrance 

  • Diabetic eye screening - please use the Blakesley Walk entrance​

​​GP surgery Nelson Medical Practice and specialist outpatient consultation are located on the 1st floor

Community mental health services are locate​d on the 1st floor - please use the Blakesley Walk entrance

Endoscopy and minor procedures are located on the 2nd floor​

  • Toilets including those that are fully accessible, are available on every floor 
  • Cafe offering light refreshments is located on the ground floor
