When you need healthcare in Merton, we want it to be accessible and convenient for you. 

That is why our vision for the Nelson Health Centre is to bring a wide range of health and care services closer to the local community and reduce trips to hospital.

This innovative healthcare centre, which opened on 1 ​April 2015,​​ is a spacious and modern environment allowing more people to be seen, diagnosed and treated as quickly as possible.​

​Please note this is not a walk-in centre. You must have an appointment to be seen at the Nelson Health Centre.

The Nelson Medical Practice, which was formed from two local GP practices (The Cannon Hill Lane Medical Practice and The Church Lane Practice) is also located at the Nelson Health Centre.

The Nelson Pharmacy offers a wide range of services including prescriptions, flu vaccinations, tests for blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes, weight management, emergency hormonal contraception, stop smoking, health checks and medication advice. 

The opening hours of the Nelson Pharmacy are:

Monday - Thursday:  8am – 8pm
Friday: 8am – 7pm 
Saturday: 8am – 1pm

  • Holistic and Rapid Investigation services (HARI) - the former Older People's Assessment and Rehabilitation Service​ which has now been widened to support a wider age group of those having complex needs and diabetic eye screening

How to find us

By train
Wimbledon Chase train station is a 5 minute walk from the centre. Walk ​east on Kingston Road (the A238) for 0.2 miles. 

By tram
The Merton Park Tram Link stop is a 10 minute walk from the centre. Walk ​​northwest towards Kingston Road (the A238) and turn left onto Kingston Road (the A238) for 0.5 miles.

By bus
The Nelson Health Centre is easily accessible by bus from Wimbledon, Sutton, Morden, Tooting and Mitcham. The 152, 163, 164, K5 buses stop directly outside The Nelson Health Centre. Full public transport travel information is available at www.tfl.gov.uk​

By car
Please note there is limited parking on site and that car parking charges apply and these rates are the same as those charged by Merton Council for other pay and display parking in the area. There is no car drop off point at the front of the building. The entrance to the car park is from Kingston Road. There are electric charging points for electric cars. Blue Badge parking bays are next to the rear entrance to the building. Cycle racks are available at both the front and rear of the centre.

Built in partnership

The Nelson Health Centre is funded through a NHS Local Improvement Finance Trust (LIFT), a Private Public Partnership which has been developed with South London Health Partnerships Ltd (SLHP).

Overall responsibility for the development lies with Community Health Partnerships (CHP), a limited company wholly owned by the Department of Health.

Merton CCG has the responsibility for the procurement and commissioning of the clinical services provided within The Nelson Health Centre.  ​​​​​
