‚ÄčEvents in November for people affected by cancer

Cancer and survivorship, Cancer and survivorship event, 10 November

The Cancer and survivorship event at St George's is for people affected by cancer to learn about the Recovery Package, which has been developed to encourage greater wellbeing after cancer treatment.

The Recovery Package provides support relevant to an individual's needs, and promotes healthier lifestyles and independence. Our event is an opportunity for people who have finished cancer treatment or are coming to the end of a treatment at St George's, to join us with a family member or friend. You will meet staff from our cancer services team, local GPs and other people in a similar situation and learn how our cancer services are working with local GPs in the community to deliver the Recovery Package. We also want to hear about your experiences of the communication between the hospital and GP so that we can make the recovery package work more effectively. Please see the flyer for more information.

Dance and Move More to live well! 18 November

Dance and Move More to live well! is a community event in Merton to raise awareness of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. The event is for anyone affected by cancer or wanting to learn more about keeping healthy. In particular, the event focuses on physical activity that can help reduce the risk of developing cancer and can help people during and following cancer treatment. Being physically active doesn't have to be boring or difficult. It can also be fun, especially when you are doing something you enjoy.

Come and experience African dancing, Bollywood dancing and our Macmillan Move More programme. We will also have stands with information on living well from Macmillan, Cancer Research UK, Prostate Cancer UK, Paul's Cancer Support Centre and other local services. Complete our quiz (the answers can be found at the information stands) and enter our prize draw to win a voucher for a meal at 805 Restaurants, Turtle Bay Restaurants and the Ravensbury. Please see the flyer for more information.
