Merton CCG Governing Body update

NHS Merton Clinical Commissioning Group is in financial recovery and NHS England requires us to find a way to rebalance our books over the next few years.

We are having regular meetings with NHS England and other partners on how we achieve this. The CCG is developing a robust Financial Recovery Plan which was discussed at length at our Governing Body meeting on Thursday 21 July.  You can listen to the Governing Body’s discussions below - the audio files are here.

NHS England is monitoring the implementation of the Financial Recovery Plan and our performance every month.

This is not just a problem facing Merton CCG. The financial position across South West London as a whole is challenging and we know providers and other CCGs also have to find significant savings.

As part of this work we are reviewing all our commissioned services to make sure we are getting the best possible value for the public funds allocated to us. The review will inform future commissioning intentions. Please be assured that all of our decisions will go through a robust governance process; and we would like to emphasise that patient safety and quality will be a key component of our assessment criteria.

The CCG wishes to carry out this review in a transparent and inclusive manner and will continue to keep you, Merton residents and our providers informed of our plans as they develop.
