The cold winter months
Letter published on P 10 of the Wimbledon Guardian today from Dr Andrew Murray, Local GP and Chair of Merton Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG)
I would like to remind your readers that it's important to look after yourself, especially during the cold winter months.
Many conditions can be managed by yourself or with advice from your local pharmacist.
If people do feel they need to see a GP I would like to let all your readers know that extra GP appointments are available in Merton during the evenings, weekends and over the Christmas holidays.
In addition to longer hours at all 23 local practices our two GP hubs are also to offer easier appointments in the evening and at the weekend. The hubs also offer a nurse service for wound dressing.
Appointments at the hubs can be made by contacting your GP surgery and when the practice is closed by calling 111.
With thousands more GP appointments available I would urge all patients to remember our local A&E hospital departments should only be used for serious injuries and medical emergencies only. If you're not sure whether it is an emergency call 111 for advice.
You can find out more from our website .
May I wish all your readers a happy and healthy Christmas.
