Do I need to register? 

Once you’ve found a dentist you don’t need to register but you can return to the same dentist for subsequent courses of treatment if you wish to do so.

Do I need to pay?

Not everyone has to pay, people who are exempt include those who are under 18, under 19 and in full-time education, pregnant or have had a baby in the 12 months before treatment starts or on income support. You’ll be asked to show your dentist written proof that you’re entitled to help with dental treatment costs.

What are the dental charges?

Is there an out-of-hours service?

If you have an urgent medical or dental need when your GP or dentist is closed, contact the NHS 111 service by dialling 1-1-1, free of charge, 24 hours a day. Your symptoms will be assessed and you will be directed to the most appropriate urgent care service if needed.​

NHS England commissions all primary care services, including your local dental services, across England. ​​If you are unhappy with the service from your dental practice, and you have been unsuccessful in resolving your concerns with the practice directly, please contact NHS England.
