Princes Road Surgery move to Patrick Doody Clinic and name change to Wimbledon Medical Practice
Princes Road Surgery, currently based at 51 Princes Road in Wimbledon, will be relocating to the Patrick Doody Clinic at 79 Pelham Road in Wimbledon on Friday 23 November.
All registered patients at Princes Road Surgery will automatically be able to continue to receive medical services from 8am on Monday 26 November 2018 at the new premises and have been sent a letter with details about the move. Information will also be shared in the surgery's waiting room and website. In addition the practice will be hosting an informal drop-in session for patients who would like further information on Friday 2nd November between 12-1pm in at 51 Princes Road.
Many local people and stakeholders will know about Princes Road Surgery's plans to relocate to Patrick Doody because they have outgrown their current premises and Merton CCG is delighted to support them to move into modern, fit for purpose premises.
The practice will occupy the ground floor and part of the first floor of the Patrick Doody Clinic which were previously unoccupied. The Patrick Doody Clinic is a purpose built health centre which is located less than half a mile and 10 minutes walk away from the current Princes Road Surgery premises on Princes Road.
Building work to refurbish Patrick Doody Health Centre started at the end of September in readiness for the move and is progressing well with the first floor almost complete.
The move will benefit patients and staff by providing newly refurbished and modernised consulting and treatment rooms; waiting areas and reception on the ground floor with dedicated staff breakout and office space on the first floor.
The CCG and practice partners have worked closely with NHS Property Services (who own the Patrick Doody building); and primary care colleagues to oversee the move. One hundred per cent of the funding for the cost of the building works was secured via a direct allocation of funds from the Department of Health to NHS Property Services with support from NHS England's Estates & Technology Transformation Fund Programme Management Office.
Although it is possible there may be some changes to staff, the CCG expects a number of the current doctors, nurses and receptionists to continue working in the practice.
Princes Road Surgery will be changing its name to Wimbledon Medical Practice once the move is complete.
The Patrick Doody Clinic is also occupied by Central London Community Health Services (CLCH) which provides a range of services to patients in Merton on referral. CLCH is also carrying out their own refurbishment of their part of the building.
