Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the group name given to a number of lung diseases. This includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis.
If you have COPD you will be working with your NHS health professionals to keep healthy. There are a number of things you can do to help yourself too, like avoiding things that will make your condition worse such as having your flu vaccination every winter, stopping smoking, and taking your medication properly.
If you are worried about COPD, help and support is always available from your GP. You can also find out the facts about living with COPD on NHS Choices living with COPD page.
